Currents Center for Recreation and Creativity
// OVERVIEW
What is CCRC?
The Currents Center for Recreation and Creativity (CCRC) will be a public, year-round, indoor space where the community can gather and engage in shared experiences, invest in physical, social and emotional health, and develop social networks that reinforce a sense of community.
The CCRC, a city-owned and operated facility, is designed as an adaptive multi-use facility that is “a confluence of active opportunities for all.” This planned expansion (Phase 2) of the Currents Aquatic Center (Phase 1) in McCormick Park is focused on engagement, recreation, and the arts.
The CCRC facility will be:

The advancement of a community center for Missoula relies heavily on community input and community support. Over 150 citizens participated in the citywide Celebrate 2000 forums that planted the seed for a community center.
Over time, many individuals and organizations have come forward to advance and refine the concept. Our collective idea continues to evolve, but the need has never faltered.

// LOCATION
The Currents Center for Recreation and Creativity (CCRC) will be in McCormick Park.
The Site
McCormick Park is highly accessible and centrally located in the Heart of Missoula along the south side of the Clark Fork River. The McCormick Park Master Plan was developed through a citizens’ engagement process to chart the future of McCormick Park.
Since the Master Plan was completed and adopted the City of Missoula has made investments toward advancing that plan. One large component of the master plan is development of the CCRC. The areas surrounding McCormick Park have seen and will continue to see considerable development. Discussions about how to best integrate the CCRC into the neighboring infrastructure and meet the goals of the master plan will continue to advance.
